How each way betting works

An each way bet is two bets: one on the selection to win and one on the selection to place. The stake per part is not the total cost. It is the amount used for the win part and the same amount again for the place part, so the total outlay is always double the stake you enter.

What place terms mean

Place terms decide the odds paid on the place part of the bet. At 8/1 with 1/4 odds, the place part pays at 2/1. If the selection wins, both the win and place parts return. If it places without winning, only the place part returns.

Worked example

  • Enter €10 as the stake per part. The total stake is €20: €10 win plus €10 place.
  • At 8/1 with 1/4 place terms, the place odds are 2/1.
  • If it wins, the win part returns €90 and the place part returns €30, for €120 total.
  • If it places without winning, only the place part returns €30, which is €10 profit after the €20 total stake.

FAQ

Does “€10 each way” mean €10 total? No. It usually means €10 on the win part and €10 on the place part, so €20 total stake.

What happens if the selection loses? Both the win and place parts lose, so the return is €0 and the loss is the full total stake.
